Attendance is a major issue for all employers. Having a written attendance policy is a necessity to ensure all disciplinary actions are supported. Sending a letter of warning to an employee is extremely important if tardiness is a persistent problem. The letter will act as a written warning that should be the last warning before disciplinary action.
Dear _____________,
Promptness is important to the management and the customers at (Insert Company Here). While we make allowances for occasional, unforeseen issues that cause tardiness, consistent lateness cannot be tolerated. Offenders of our tardiness policy will be disciplined accordingly.
You have reported to work late for your scheduled shift (Insert Number) times in the last (Insert Number) days. Unless this situation is corrected immediately, we will be forced to implement disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
If there are extenuating circumstances that are at the root of this problem, please speak with me. (Insert Company Here) is not willing to accept this type of attendance any longer. I am certain that this issue will be resolved immediately.
Sincerely,
